Street Dog Tennis was formed by a father whose son wanted to be one of the best tennis players around.  As people watched them train together, one by one they would ask if they would train their children
and themselves also. 
  In 2005, Street Dog Tennis was born as a father and son partnership; John and Justin Maurer.

 

     Justin, was a super-champ in Texas in juniors and currently coaching and teaching with Dad; while playing in Men's Open tournaments.  Justin has had the opportunity to be around top coaches and players along with Dad; and practice and learn from them also. 
     He has had the opportunity to play or practice with John Roddick, John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Pat Cash, and Goran Ivanisevic, as well as others on the senior tour.  
     Justin is a 5x Texas US Open Qualifier 2010-2013, 2015.  A Texas US Open mixed doubles qualifier in 2015.  Ranked in top 5 Texas Father and Son Open doubles in 2012

 

      Mentored by some of the world's top player coaches, John has taken from them and made his own unique no holds barred style.

      Been associated with coaches such as Jimmy Parker - winner of over 100 USTA National titles; John Wilkerson - former coach of Zina Garrison and Lori McNeil; Ross Persons, Phillippe Arnold, Matt Rainey as well as many others.

     John has over 20 years as an instructor.  Ranked in the top 5 Texas Men's 40 doubles in 2007; top 5 in Texas Father and Son Open doubles in 2012; Texas US Open Men's Doubles qualifier in 2015.
